Tierna historia que tenía que compartir con ustedes... La chef de repostrería Melody Brandon tiene una tienda en Long Beach, California que se llama Sweet and Saucy... Supe de ella por su blog con el mismo nombre... uno de mis FAVORITOS... y por supuesto soy una de miles de fans de este blog... Tal es el caso Kristen, una super fan que tenía un viaje planeado a California con su novio y el, muy astutamente, contactó a la dueña de esta tienda para pedirle el gran favor de que lo ayudara a sorprender a Kristen para proponerle matrimonio... ¡AYYYYYYY QUE EMOCION!!! This is a very cute story that I just had to share with you... Pastry chef Melody Brandon has a store in Long Beach, California called Sweet and Saucy... I knew about it because she has a blog with the same name and it's one of my favorites... of course I am only one of thousands of fans of this blog... such is the case with Kristen, a super fan that had a trip planned to California with her boyfriend. The very clever boyfriend contacted the owner of this store and asked her to help him propose to Kristen... how exciting!

El novio le mandó a la chef fotos del anillo compromiso {imágen de arriba} y así ella pudo crear el pastel con el mismo diseño del anillo ¡WOW!  Y como pueden ver en las imágenes siguientes, todo salió de acuerdo a lo planeado... He sent pictures of the ring beforehand so the chef could make the cake with the same design as the ring. Wow! As you can see in the following images, everything went according to planned...

Llegaron a la tienda, Kristen empezó a platicar con la dueña y no se daba cuenta de lo que estaba pasando hasta que la chef le pidió que le dijera de que sabor decía el letrero que era ese pastel... y lo leyó y... volteó... They got to the store, Kristen began talking to the owner and wasn't aware of anything, until the chef asked her to please read the sign of the cake to see what flavor it was... and she read it... and she turned around...

 

 

 

 

 

¡Qué ORIGINAL! Me ENCANTAN este tipo de historias... Espero les haya gustado tanto como a mí... si conocen a alguien que se quiera comprometer proximamente compártanle esta historia... ¡es HERMOSA! Finalmente les muestro para que compré esos vasitos encantadores de la entrada anterior... Finally I can show you what I bought these darling baking cups for...

Con un vaciador de melón saca bolitas de una manzana... Scoop tiny balls out of an apple with a melon baller...

 

Envuelve en caramelo cuidando que quede descubierta la cáscara de la manzana y encaja una varita de madera... Wrap in caramel making sure that the green part of the apple is showing and insert a wooden skewer...

Funde chocolate semi-amargo y cubre la manzana con el chocolate... Melt semi-sweet chocolate and dip the caramel covered apple...

...DIVINO... MINI-Mini-mini manzanas cubiertas de caramelo y chocolate... ahhh que HERMOSURAS... PERFECTAS para comerse de un solo bocado... Divine... mini-mini-super mini caramel chocolate covered apples... ahhh how adorable... perfect for eating with just one bite...

...y como el vaciador de melón tiene dos tamaños... dos tamaños de manzanas tendrás... aun MEJOR... and since the melon baller comes in two sizes, you will end up with two different sizes of apples... even better...

Arriba pueden ver las del tamaño más chico y abajo las más grandes... You can see the small ones in the image above, and the bigger ones in the image below...

Inspirada en las manzanas que hicieron las chicas de Little Birdie Secrets, y con lo popular que son las manzanas en los eventos en Mexico {estoy segura que en otras partes del mundo también} decidí intentarlo... y el reslultado fue ¡MAGNIFICO! {Proximamente las haré envueltas en tamarindo y chile en polvo... luego les comparto esos resultados} Algunos consejos para hacer estas manzanas miniatura... Inspired in the apples made by the girls at Little Birdie Secrets, and knowing that these apples are so popular in Mexico (I'm sure they're popular in other parts of the world too) I decided to try them.. and the result was magnificent! {I'm trying them wrapped in tamarind and chili powder... I'll share those results soon} Here are some tips for making these miniature apples...

1. Como la pulpa de la manzana queda expuesta, puede resultar dificil que pegue bien el caramelo, por lo mismo siempre seca con una toalla de papel cada bolita antes de envolverla. También he leído que se puede pasar la bolita en un poco de azúcar glass antes de ponerle el caramelo para que este absorba un poco la humedad de la manzana {yo no hice esto pero lo intentaré en la siguiente ocasión}. Because the flesh of the apples is exposed, it could make it dificult for the caramel to stick... so always pat the apple balls dry with a paper towel before wrapping them in caramel. I also read that you could coat the apple with powdered sugar before the caramel, this way the sugar can absorb some of the humidity {I didn't try this, but I will next time}.

2. Por el mismo motivo de la pulpa expuesta el caramelo tiende a humedecerse y a la hora de morder la manzana escurre un poco {realmente poco} líquido, por lo que aconsejo que se coman de un solo bocado o bien siempre acompáñenlas con estos lindos vasitos para hornear cupcakes... Again, because the flesh of the apple is exposed, the caramel tends to get moist and when you bite into it, it can drip a little {honestly, just a litle} which is why you should eat these in just one bite or serve them in these darling little baking cups...

¡No lo pude resistir! En cuanto vi estas pequeñas divinuras las tuve que comprar... son vasitos para hornear cupcakes, los dos son mini, bueno uno es para mini cupcakes y el otro es para mini-MINI cupcakes... Papelitos HERMOSOS... y en cuanto los vi, supe exactamente en que usarlos... I couldn't resist! As soon as I saw these adorable little things I had to buy them... they're cupcake liners... to make mini cupcakes... well, one is for mini cupcakes and the other one is for mini-mini cupcakes... Beautiful little pieces of paper... I new just what to use them for as soon as I saw them...

Son floreros de metal, cerámica y vidrio; comprados en tiendas de segunda a un precio mínimo y pintados con pintura de aerosol negra! Se ven LINDOS! Hazlo to misma, no te limites a floreros, puedes usar marcos, platos, charolas, candelabros, usa tu imaginación! How can something that looks so elegant come from the simplest things? Para lograr este tema considera lo siguiente... Como invitación manda un Adivinador (también conocido como Cootie Catcher o Saca Piojos). Que divertido recibir este juego como invitación no creen? A mi me encantaba este juego de chiquita (y creo que todavía me podría divertir). Encuentra las instrucciones para hacer uno aquí... asegúrate de usar un papel grueso (hoja opalina o craft paper) y empieza con un cuadrado de 12 pulgadas ó 35.5 cm. To achieve this theme, consider the following... send a cootie catcher as an invitation. Wouldn't it be fun to get this in the mail? I loved this game when I was a little girl (and I think I could still have fun with it today). Make sure you use thick paper like craft paper and begin with a 12 inch square.
